Arc-rated protection for electrical & utility workers
Electrical workers, power plant operators and utility crews face electric arc flash and, on some sites, a risk of static discharge near flammable atmospheres. IEC 61482-rated fabrics dissipate and contain arc energy, while an EN 1149 antistatic thread prevents the fabric itself from becoming an ignition source.
Standards that apply
Arc-flash work is specified against IEC 61482; EN 1149 is added wherever static discharge is also a risk.
Electric arc flash — Class 1 (4kA) or Class 2 (7kA) box test, or ATPV open-arc rating, per the switchgear risk level.
Electrostatic dissipation — keeps the garment itself from becoming an ignition source near flammable atmospheres.
