Flame Retardant fabric
FR-Oxford is a 250gsm protective fabric with limited flame retardant properties (EN 14116). It is made from 98% polyester and 2% antistatic with a flame retardant PU lamination and water resistant finish (EN343 & EN 1149). FR-Oxford is best used for protective rainwear or FR garments.[show_more more="Show more" less="Show less" color="#629e11;" align=”left” ]FR-Oxford is a medium weight flame retardant fabric with water resistant properties. It is made from a very durable Oxford fabric with the addition of antistatic yarn and a flame retardant PU (polyurethane) lamination. FR-Oxford is composed of 98% polyester and 2% antistatic yarn. The flame retardant properties of FR-Oxford are not as strong as our FR-Cotton or FR-Polycotton fabrics. FR-Oxford is designed for flame retardant rain jackets and trousers. Therefore FR-Oxford is certified to ISO 14116, a standard for limited flame retardancy. FR-Oxford also complies with EN 343, a standard for protective clothing and protection against rain. FR-Oxford is your best choice for FR clothing to be used in rainy places where there is also a risk of flame or fire. [/show_more]
Key features: Flame Retardant, Antistatic, Water resistant
Certifications:N 14116, EN 1149, EN 13034, EN 20471, EN 20471 Contrast, Oeko-tex 100

Flame retardant polyester fabrics are specially treated polyester materials designed to have enhanced fire resistance properties. Polyester fibers are inherently flammable, meaning they are prone to catching fire easily and quickly. However, with the application of flame retardant chemicals, these fabrics can be made to have reduced flammability and resist the spread of flames.
The flame retardant treatment works by creating a char layer on the surface of the fabric when exposed to fire or high heat. This char layer acts as a protective barrier, preventing the flames from reaching the underlying fabric and slowing down the combustion process. This additional layer of fire resistance can be crucial in preventing fire incidents and providing valuable time for individuals to evacuate or seek safety.
Flame retardant polyester fabrics are widely used in various industries where fire protection is crucial, such as firefighting gear, military uniforms, and industrial safety clothing. These fabrics often undergo rigorous testing and certification processes to ensure their compliance with industry standards for flame resistance.
In addition to their fire-resistant properties, flame retardant polyester fabrics also offer other desirable characteristics such as durability, wrinkle resistance, and colorfastness. They can be designed in various textures, patterns, and colors to suit different applications while maintaining their flame retardant capabilities.
