In June 2017 our flame retardant cotton fabric Fiji was tested and certified to EN 13034:2005+A1:2009 (Protection clothing against liquid chemicals). Fiji is a pure cotton 220gsm FR-fabric with antistatic properties. It is light, comfortable and durable. The new Fiji is even better providing another level of protection – protection from splashes of chemicals. The testing was done at independent international laboratory AITEX (Spain).
FR-clothing made of Fiji fabric is best used in summer or in a hot climate. It protects workers from Heat and Flame. Made of natural fibers it is soft and pleasant to wear and at the same time, Fiji FR-fabric protects from Heat and Flame. Carbon antistatic yarn integrated as stripes in the surface of Fiji makes it absolutely safe for use in explosive atmospheres. To prevent Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Sparks, antistatic fibers safely discharge static electricity eliminating the risk of fire and explosion.
EN 13034 Standard includes fabric testing in various ways to determine its physical parameters and resistance to chemicals. There were 4 chemical compounds (H2SO4, NaOH, n-heptane and isopropanol) used for the testing.
According to standard EN 13034 our fabric has been successfully passed all the following tests:
- 5 washing cycles at 60ºC, according to the standard ISO 6330:2012, method 6N and tumbler drying (F)
- Abrasion resistance (LEVEL 4)
- Determination of tear resistance (LEVEL 2)
- Determination of breaking strength and elongation (LEVEL 5)
- Puncture resistance (LEVEL 2)
- Resistance of materials to penetration by liquid:
- Sulphuric acid 30% (IR = 3; IP= 3)
- Sodium hydroxide 10% (IR = 3; IP= 3)
- O-Xilene (IR = 1; IP= 1)
- 1-Butanolo (IR = 3; IP= 2)
